With the shift in 2020 to WFM (working from home) whenever possible to help combat the spread of Covid-19, it is disheartening to hear BT claim that the Governments target for the rollout of Fibre across the UK, could be delayed by up to 8 years.
The Government has set a date of 2025, but BT has said in order to meet this deadline, the current amount of installations would need to double to 4.3M per year. At the current rate of installs, the completion date is likely to slip to 2033.
This news is particularly hard to hear for rural communities who already suffer from poor coverage and slow internet speeds and full-fibre would greatly improve their economic chances in the connected world.
