Since the pandemic, there has been a surge in people working remotely and with many large organisations not looking to open up their offices (at least not en masse) until 2021 at the earliest, the trend is likely to continue.
With it though, brings security concerns as people access work platforms from home. A survey of CISO’s (Chief Information and Security Officers) highlighted their concerns, the main ones being:
- Use of personal devices to access corporate systems, which traditionally haven’t been set up with security measures as strong as company devices
- Utilisation of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) deemed major worry
- Top of the Cloud / SaaS concerns were
- File Sharing & Hosting Services, as well as Cloud Email
In order to combat these issues, companies are looking to heavily invest in security, with virtualised Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (aka SD-WAN) implemented, which provides unified connectivity across all access points, Office, Home, etc.
SASE – Secure Access Service Edge – is also seeing a huge increase in popularity, which according to Computer Weekly, “incorporates or integrates with SD-WAN to deliver unified networking and security as a cloud service, with the dynamic scaling and provisioning that accompany all SaaS technology.”
